Work Experience Internship (WEI) – RE3000

Under the Bachelor of Science (Real Estate) curriculum, RE3000 (Work Experience Internship) is an internship module offered with effect from AY2017/18 Special Term (May – July).

Open to full-time real estate undergraduate students who have completed at least 4 semesters of study and plan to proceed on an approved internship of at least 10 weeks in duration in the May – July vacation period.

This module aims to recognize and encourage work experiences in fields that could lead to viable career pathways that may not be directly related to the student’s major. It will serve as a platform for students to explore a career interest and develop skills outside of their degree programmes, and open up viable career opportunities for students in these industry sectors.

RE3000 is a 4-MC unrestricted elective that carries a grade classified as Completed Satisfactory (CS) or Completed Unsatisfactory (CU).

Real Estate Internship Programme (REIP) – RE4202

Under the Bachelor of Science (Real Estate) curriculum, RE4202 (Real Estate Internship Programme) is a 4-MC restricted elective that is intended to give BSc (RE) students a formal exposure to the working environment. The official programme is for a minimum period of 10 weeks undertaken during the May to July NUS vacation period.

The official REIP 2019 programme is from 13 May to 19 July 2019. Subject to the agreement by both student and employer, the internship could be extended beyond the 10-week minimum duration, bearing in mind the commencement date of the new academic year.

How it works

The Department of Real Estate (DRE) will provide a list of internship positions with organisations that are able to provide relevant and quality training for our third year BSc (Real Estate) undergraduates.

RE4202 is a 4-MC programme elective that carries a grade classified as Completed Satisfactory (CS) or Completed Unsatisfactory (CU).

Students pursuing a specialisation in Real Estate Finance can also opt to take RE4202 to fulfil the respective specialisation requirements.

The grading of the internship depends on the employer’s evaluation (50%) and the intern’s written reports (50%).

Who is eligible to apply?

Current BSc (Real Estate) students who have completed at least 6 semesters of study OR attained at least 100 MCs are eligible to apply for the 2019 REIP, also known as RE4202 (Real Estate Internship Programme).

Students should submit their applications directly to the 2019 participating firms for the listed internship positions. The firms may contact selected students for an interview subsequently.

Students are also allowed to apply to firms which are not already included in the above 2019 REIP participation list. A list of participating firms from past years can be found here for quick reference.

How to apply for approval?

After you have successfully secured a placement, you are required to email a soft copy of the completed Form 2 together with the letter of offer/acceptance consolidated in one email should be emailed to Mdm Vidya at not later than 5:00pm, 5 Apr 2019.

Email subject title should be “2019 REIP Application – Student Name (Company Name)”.
