For the past four years, the University of Hong Kong (HKU) – National University of Singapore (NUS) symposium on real estate research has attracted high quality research papers and is becoming a platform of choice for real estate researchers in Asia. The next symposium in 2007 will be held under the Association of Pacific Rim Universities umbrella.
The APRU Real Estate Research Symposium will be held in Singapore from July 16 - 17, 2007. The National University of Singapore will host this symposium with co-organizers HKU, University of Southern California (USC) and Tsinghua University (THU) as supporting universities.
The APRU Real Estate Research Symposium aims to promote and elevate quality real estate research in Asia-Pacific. The symposium format with dedicated presentations and designated discussants allows for active and intensive exchange of research findings. As in previous years, we believe that the symposium will continue to strengthen the links between real estate researchers from Asia-Pacific and other parts of the world. Eminent professors from US and Europe will also be invited to further enhance research discussion and debate.
The symposium will focus on real estate-related issues that are particularly relevant to Asia-Pacific. We welcome papers on (but not limited to) the following areas:
1. Securitized real estate
2. Housing markets
3. Mortgage markets
4. Commercial real estate development and investment
5. Institutional economic analysis of the real estate markets
6. Intra and inter region real estate investments
Twelve to fifteen papers will be selected by the Program Committee for presentation and discussion in the two-day symposium. All papers presented will be independently reviewed for their suitability for publication in a special issue of The Journal of Real Estate Finance & Economics (JREFE).
Stringent criteria will be adopted in the selection and short-listing process to ensure that the quality of the papers will not be compromised. The Program Committee comprises editorial broad members of JREFE and other renowned real estate researchers from the US, Europe, Australia, and Asia.
The costs of accommodation and meals will be covered for presenters and discussants.
Please submit your full paper – preferably in electronic format (MS Word or PDF files) to Seow Eng ONG at seong@nus.edu.sg before March 15, 2007. The program will be finalized by May 1, 2007, and registration deadline is May 31, 2007.
