Conduct of Classes


Candidates will be required to attend a full-day induction module for one week in August. Classes for the remaining modules are usually conducted in the evenings from 7-10pm.

Program Structure (subject to changes)

The MSc (Real Estate), MSRE, at the National University of Singapore offers a broad-based professional education at the graduate level in the field of real estate.

The course structure has been regularly reviewed and streamlined to provide an up-to-date program that is both relevant in its coverage of the industry's needs, while being grounded in academic rigor. Under the revised curriculum effective from the AY2007-8 intake, candidates will be required to complete a 40-modular credit program that comprises six essential modules, one dissertation or international field study module and two elective modules within a maximum period of four semesters for full-time candidates, and six semesters for part-time candidates. Candidates could also accumulate modular credits from cross-programme/faculty modules elective modules of 4 MC each.

Course Requirements

The curriculum aims to provide a strong foundation in the economics of strategic real estate decision while allowing sufficient flexibility for candidates to develop their interest in other specialized areas.

With effect from AY2009-10 intake, the modules offered are as follows:

Essential modules (4 Modular Credits each)

  • RE5001 Real Estate Development (Semester 1)
  • RE5002 Legal & Institutional Framework (Semester 1)
  • RE5005 Development & Project Financing (Semester 2)
  • RE5008 International Real Estate (Semester 2)
  • RE5009 Commercial Real Estate Appraisal (Semester 1)
  • RE5013 Urban Policy & Real Estate Markets (Semester 1)
Restricted Elective Modules (8 Modular Credits each)
  • RE5000 Dissertation (Semester 1 or 2)
  • RE5011 International Field Study (Semester 2)

Unrestricted Elective Module

The suggested real estate module is:

  • RE5014 Real Estate in Corporate Portfolios (Semester 2)

Candidates could also accumulate modular credits from cross programme/faculty unrestricted elective modules of 4 MC each (eg Architecture or Building modules).

REDAS Gold Medal

The Real Estate Developers Association of Singapore (REDAS) Gold Medal is awarded to the best graduating student in each year. To be considered for the award, candidates must have a minimum CAP score of 4.5
